This is an out-of-character intro post. Come say hello to your fellow players and drop a line here so people can get to know you and find out the best ways to contact you, as well as see who you are bringing in!

Don't forget to check out this month's important dates for a peek at what the first month is going to look like. They'll be updated more dates solidify behind the scenes, especially regarding February's event(s).

Our in-character intro log will be going up just after midnight EST, keep an eye on our mod plurk (thepines) for that and a very important poll before the end of the day.

Ciao! This is Shia, player of Stefan Salvatore. I can be reached through PM or pp at skullduggery for plotting purposes. I'm stoked to play with everyone and would love to develop lots of Pines memories for him.

Probably the most important thing to know OOCly about Stefan is that he is a vampire! Which is fortunately one of the 5 memories I selected for him, along with other vampire-y need to know things which should keep him from accidentally ripping anyone's neck to shreds. I do have a permissions post up here which I will soon be editing to include a form which is relevant to his vampire abilities such as compulsion. what's up y'all, i'm anne and i can be found most easily at passiones, along with one thousand pictures of my cats. (un)fortunately i have brought in FATHER!!! enrico pucci from jojo's bizarre adventure, that canon you've seen on tumblr but probably don't understand (because it makes no sense).

the short version is that pucci is the main antagonist of his arc, stone ocean, a former priest and fanatical follower of the main antagonist of the series, who is a vampire douchebag. he was catholic once but now he's . . . pretty much not. he's got a lot of obsessive/compulsive tendencies and leans towards the philosophical. also, he's a big weirdo! on the other hand, he has a pretty terrible backstory that deals with sensitive subjects, so if folks could check out my opt out post i'd consider it a big favor. i'm still setting up his journal but he'll have an hmd up soon too.

sup! my name is crystal and i am playing this trashbag:



aka dio brando from jojo's bizarre adventure. you may know him from the ridiculous number of memes he's generated. for those that aren't familiar with him, he's the antagonist of parts 1 & 3, but generally speaking everything bad that happens throughout all the parts are due to his evil shenanigans. and yet despite his evil shenanigans, even protag squad describe him as being ~so sensual~ and charming and ooh mr. brando ooh~

anyway.

dio is from the 1980s, a 120-something vampire, and what's known as a stand user. the 80's thing is to try and gently explain why he can't dress himself properly. (it's a poor excuse.) the vampire part is important because he sleeps during the day and he has mind control abilities.

as for the potential "wtf is a stand user??" question, dio can metaphysically manifest his spirit as what is known as a stand. (think of them like personas or ghosts who can punch stuff and do other things!) dio's stand is called the world, and it has the ability to stop time. that's also his adoptive brother's body from the neck down, so he has a second stand that gives him semi-precognitive abilities and psychic photography, but that's not important. don't worry about it.

what's important is a few things. first and foremost, you can read more in-depth about how his powers work here. second, given the OP nature of dio's abilities, i don't use any of the more extreme ones (i.e. mind compulsion, flesh bud [that also results in mind control because one mind control ability wasn't enough], or time stop) without asking for player permission first. so don't worry about me springing that on you out of nowhere. finally, you can 110% opt out of playing with dio based upon his powers and/or some of the triggering nature of his history (or opt out of playing with those parts if you'd still like to interact, but avoid those pieces), by leaving a comment on his permissions. all comments are screened & i don't ask questions unless it's to clarify something. otherwise the only comment you'll receive from me is acknowledgement that i received the note!

Hi, I'm Carolyn, and I'm playing the extremely perky Dr. Emily Grey from Red vs Blue. She is a normal baseline human but also a genius polymath, who just came from being a military surgeon in a really brutal 26th century civil war. She is friendly and helpful and endlessly cheerful because the war pretty much broke her and the knob's stuck on "happy." She's also perfectly willing to torture people for information...but only bad people. The likelihood she will adapt to the 90s by wearing medium-wash mom jeans is high.

and yes, she's that Elizabeth Bathory, the one that supposedly killed a ton of women just to bathe in their blood and keep herself young. eliza here is a liiiittle different, if the horns... tail... fangs, and so on, weren't a clue. she's more or less left the serial killing and blood-bathing behind for Reasons, though she's still super cunning and sadistic when the situation calls for it (and sometimes when it doesn't). since being reincarnated thanks to the holy grail (on the moon!), eliza's learned all about japanese pop idols and strives to become one of them. the unfortunate thing is that she can't sing. at all. in fact, her singing voice is deadly. please don't let her sing.

IM RAMBLING but basically!!! she's a ditzy dragoness with a cruel streak and a serious obsession with Halloween. i'm bringing her in from the finale of fate/grand order, that phone game hell god please save me from it. for those who are canon-blind, eliza is basically a miracle of magic in that she's the highest level of mage familiars in the world. as such, she'll be looking for a master when she regains her memories, so if any MAGIC USERS are interested in having a meatghost hanging around, let me know! i'm working on a permissions/info post for her Servant skills to better go into detail about that.

Hello! I'm Sammy! How's everybody doing tonight? :)

From the book series about magical forests, rich teenage boys, and sleeping Welsh kings, I am bringing resident Ghost Thing Noah Czerny from The Raven Cycle! The most important thing to know about Noah? Even though he looks like your average smudgy 17-year-old, he's really been dead for seven years. What does that mean? That he frequently disappears/reappears at random, he sometimes isn't all the way there (yeah, sometimes he looks a little more... ghostly than others.), he exists at a constant temperature known as freezing, and every now and then he -- unknowingly so -- eavesdrops on the thoughts of others. (As far as he can tell they were said out loud, but he missed the part that involved a mouth moving.)

As far as the whole listening in on thoughts goes, if you'd rather that he not, then don't hesitate to give me a heads up. No hard feelings whatsoever! :)

Jefferson is the Mad Hatter and he's kind of a dick. Sometimes he puts sedatives in people's tea and then kidnaps them and tries to make them make a magic hat for him at gunpoint. Despite that, he's actually p harmless. HERE, HAVE SOME OF HIS CONVOLUTED BACKSTORY IN HIS OWN WORDS. Jefferson comes from right before the curse is broken at the end of Season 1.

Meanwhile, Bucky Barnes is-- come on, everyone knows who he is. He was Cap's bff! This happened. Then he became a brainwashed assassin with a cool robot arm. Now he's a formerly brainwashed former assassin with a cool robot arm, and he just wants to be left the hell alone. Bucky's from towards the end of Civil War.

Anyways, this guy here is from a short story by Frank Stockton, aka the guy who wrote The Lady and the Tiger. The whole thing is available online for anyone who wants to look it up, but in short, he's a man-eating beast with morals about just who he eats. It's just that his morals are to only eat those he becomes fond of. Still, if you're on his good side and you've got good cooking skills he'll probably accept your offering. He's also coming in after the end of the story, when he's voluntarily starved to death because he felt the one person he'd grown fond of deserved better.

As you might be able to tell, there's probably going to be a lot of issues with his CR and how he might end up interacting with them, so I have a permissions post up for him!

Malia Tate | Teen Wolf

Howdy, everyone! I'm Erin, and I'm bringing in Malia Tate from Teen Wolf. I can be found at illusen (feel free to add me!) or by PM. I'm excited to play and plot with ya'll and for Malia to meet all your fine characters!

As the name may suggest, she's from a show about the shenanigans of teenage werewolves and their frands, set in Beacon Hills, California. Malia's a werecoyote, which follows many of the same principles as a werewolf in the show, but she can also shift into an actual coyote. There are control and blood-lust aspects of lycanthropy in the show, but she has most of those pretty under control. All in all, she's not a danger to...probably anyone but herself (unless you try to start something with her, of course.)

Also worth noting is that she's extremely blunt, prone to violent action as a first resort in danger, and really isn't a people person. She doesn't quite know how to be due to canonical reasons (and kind of doesn't wanna be, yo?), so get ready for almost no manners, and her telling it like it is.

Hi everyone! I'm Gwiggs, one of the mods here in the Pines, and I'll be bringing in my original character Corstine.

I'm having some technical difficulties with my laptop at the moment (it chose today of all days for the screen to completely die) so I can't post the info to her journal that I wanted to. But the gist of her character is that she's a bandit leader who lucked into finding a magic artifact that allows her to control dire rats.

Since then, she's been leading an army of ruffians and rats the size of pickup trucks around the countryside of her homeland, gathering a following of other bandit gangs and crushing all who oppose her.

The catch is that if she doesnt play her flute every 4-5 hours the spell wears off and the giant rats all start to lose their shit - which means she hasn't gotten a full night's rest in well over a year.

She's crass and angry and sleep deprived to the point that she sometimes hallucinate and she's somehow managed to unify her anarchist husk of a nation into some sort of bastardized version of the mongol hoard but with giant rats and hooligans. It's a trip.


ANYWAY she's going to be a very abrasive neighbor. I'm very excited to see her interact with the lovely, colorful bunch of characters we've gathered in this game - and I'm even more excited to be your moderator in the coming months!

Hi, folks! I'm Jeeps, and I'll be bringing you Steve Rogers aka Captain America aka the star spangled man with a plan. (Sometimes the plan is: wing it.) I'm sure most people are at least passingly familiar, but he's a supersoldier who was frozen for seventy years after crashlanding his plane into the arctic in 1945. In his free time he likes to draw, catch up on the 21st century, and pull helicopters down from the sky.


Hilariously, he kinda skipped right over the 90s while he was napping in the ice, so everything here will feel weirdly outdated, considering he's a nonagenarian. He's really not sorry for any trouble he causes. I'm taking him from shortly post Civil War, after he's done the prison break thing.

Natasha is post the events of Civil War, and will be crashing with Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes because for the first couple of days here, she's going to assume that the three of them have been childhood friends ever since she kicked Bucky in the nuts as a 6 year old.

Allison is a little special — she's post her death in the Teen Wolf series, and comes from the game Ataraxion, where she was brought back from the brink of death on her arrival in that game. She's a little harder and a lot more battle scarred, but she's still the same kind and thoughtful Allison at her core. Just don't fuck with her friends. She's died once for them, she'll do it again.

Hello hello! My name is Shiro. I have Jiaying here. I have her listed under MCU but she's only ever appeared in season 2 of Agents of SHIELD.



She is a mean one due to HYDRA torturing and murdering her but she won't remember any of that yet, nor remember her name for the first two weeks, after which she'll slowly regain bits and pieces along with any false memories. (I'm gonna hop around this intro shortly but please do hit me up if you're playing with the false memories aspect too :333)

Anyway, basic idea. Jiaying is an Inhuman, a human with genetically modified DNA who went through a special mist and was reborn with abilities. Her ability is regeneration and absorbing a person's life force to keep herself young. She's been alive since the 1940s at least. She has also been murdered by having her organs harvested so she has built up a hatred for SHIELD and HYDRA and humanity in general.

Other than that! She's kind, loving, and a great motherly mentor, as well as a strict and dedicated leader, which is what she'll start off as in The Pines. :D I'll probably have her start up a counseling business once she's past the initial stage of worrying about her missing husband and baby daughter if anyone wants in on that.

What's up guys, I'm Mel, and I'm going to be the Mod with weird hours in this game since I work a graveyard shift, but I'm excited to get this game going with you guys regardless!

Today I am bringing in resident trash king Clint Barton from the Marvel 616 comics.


Specifically I'm bringing him from the end of issue 15 of the Fraction series, just after losing his hearing. Which is gonna make communication with him.... interesting (let's not even get into how he's going to use the network right now). If you're not familiar with comic Clint he's basically a walking disaster with a singular talent in self-sabotage but, darn it he sure does try to do the right thing most of the time. Also, he really loves dogs.

I'm also bringing in Stiles Stilinski from the show Teen Wolf.


Stiles is coming in with CRAU from his time in the game Ataraxion, post season 3b, and practically overflowing with anxiety, guilt, and, oh yeah, he's really unsure about dreams vs. reality right about now. Of course this is Stiles, so he'll keep most of that to himself and deal with everything like he normally does adversity. Making sarcastic comments and researching things until he goes cross-eyed.

but yeah, i'm here with ellie from the last of us. ellie is a badass 14 year old girl from a post apocalyptic world. she loves puns and staying alive and her adoptive papa (who she's sadly not gonna remember at all for a little while). she's not very trusting to strangers but she's pretty chill once she gets to know you. i'm really looking forward to playing here!
