(may event) sudden recall
Hello, dearest Pinecones, and welcome to our May event! This month's happening is a little more... psychological than investigatory, but it should still provide plenty for characters to think about and discuss nervously amongst themselves in the relative 'privacy' of their own homes. Enjoy the reprieve, citizens of Wayward Pines, because after this it's about to get a lot more dangerous in our sleepy little town. SUDDEN RECALL
MEMORY EVENT: Sudden Recall
EVENT DATE: May 15th - 19th
Wayward Pines has seen its fair share of showers this month, but on the 15th the clouds have for the most part drifted across the southern cliffs and allowed the sun to lend a little spring warmth to the day — a great day to hear from your government officials about how our recovery from last month's flood is progressing. Instead of taking to the podium, residents will be able to catch the address on the phone network's seldom-used channel 0, where it rings in like a particularly incessant phone call until somebody picks up to hear it.
It's odd, though. This is no scripted message asking for your vote in the next election (whenever that's ever gonna happen)... It delivers the expected information, but under the bare modicum of political professionalism, the delivery is erratic, scattered, almost a little dazed. And as you listen — or maybe a bit later, when you're doing the laundry, or meeting a friend for a drink — it hits you. A vision... Could it even be a memory?
It's not from your life before, but it doesn't fit into the cozy memories of life in Wayward Pines, either. But it feels real, maybe all the more so for the way it blurs on the far edge of coherency, so unlike your crisp, vivid memories of either one of your supposed lives.
However, a few things might still stick out in your mind: Your surroundings, clean and clinical. The chill of metal against your bare back, cutting through a little of the fog in your head. A bustle of men and women around you, like a churning tide of movement you couldn't keep up with if you tried. Their voices a steady drone of clipped conversation around you, but the words slipped by you like sand through your fingers. They might have been dressed in white, or maybe the glare from the flourescents had you temporarily blinded. And they were touching you, you remember the occasional touch of a hand or just a few fingers. At the time, you likely struggled to connect the fact that it was you they were touching.
If you woke up with injuries in the hospital, you probably remember them here too, and they were downright debilitating in this memory. Either way, you remember being painfully stiff and sore — having difficulty even moving your neck to groggily take in these surroundings. If you managed it and looked to your side, you saw a door with a viewing window in the top that opened every so often. The room beyond the door was low-lit and hard to make out, full of indiscernible movement and large, dim shapes.
Then, finally, you managed to scrape together the coherency to parse some of the chatter around you. "— are clear. Haptic tests are clear." Then, a pinch just inside your elbow. "Proceeding to —" And then unconsciousness claimed you once more.Just a few notes on this one:
OUT OF CHARACTER THE BREAKDOWN
This event is, as always, entirely opt-in. Though all residents are expected to listen to the message, it won't necessarily trigger any memory at all in your character. Maybe it simply strikes them as unusual instead. We encourage players who do opt in to decide how much your character remembers from the details given above, since not everyone will necessarily have the same experience! Maybe they remember some parts, but not others. The memories may be as vivid as described, or maybe they're even hazier. That said, all characters who regain the memory will have universally heard the dialogue quoted at the end.
There will be both an audio network post and a catch-all log going up for this event on the 15th for your convenience.
MOD QUESTIONS
no subject
Asking for a friend.
What's the security at Town Hall like? Also: the security at the police station? Would a droid's scans be able to pick up any extreme security measures? And if, say, there were multiple emergencies around town all within a short span of each other, how many people would be left at the police station/how likely would the sheriff be to leave?

Re: MOD QUESTIONS
when ibaraki first arrived in game, she was missing... a good bit of her right arm, because the packrat had it. I know the mechanic is no longer in play, but would the """removal""" of her arm be included in the memory at all? it was treated as an injury at the hospital during her arrival

ALSO Lydia's screams can get pretty loud, so what amount of range can be allowed for it through the town?

Randel is pretty much used to deep medical horror as part of his every day life (as per canon point, he's actually still in contact with his horror story doctor and is still one of her experiments) but finding out that other people (read, all the lovely people that he's connected with over the last month) should any of them remember similar is going to galvanize him a little where he'd started to sort of settle into the concept of the town as being a largely good thing for him even if it wasn't 'real'. He's going to be the more subtly effected of the three, but I'd love to have it come up to start nudging him towards action.

CLARY FRAY: PLOTTING
Anyone interested let me know! She'll also be drawing scenes that she remembers so if someone wants to accidentally get a peak at one of those they can be worried or prompted to speak about it.

He's a good choice to spitball with if you'd like someone who'll put a positive spin on it, since he might actually take it as a good sign their memories are coming back. Maybe they'll remember how they got here next??? Anyway, tl;dr this kid's not going to be terribly affected but he's curious about what Pines is up to so he's down to help with any sleuthing, etc!

tl;dr monster is going to be backsliding on the last three months of human trust building she's done.
humans she still trusts completely consist of: robin hood, and only robin hood because she knew him before she came here. almost everyone else (read: people who arent nyx, jack, or steeb) will be met with open various degrees of hostility, unless she can easily discern their nonhumanness, and that hostility can be easily escalated into actual violence if she's prodded enough and you're interested.
i'm coming off of almost a month long hiatus due to computer issues, so i'll be playing a lot of catch up, but i can also be reached at

alex on the other hand is going to be having a time of it. he's going to be outside running basic maintenance on his bike when the vision hits him, which is going to startle him into accidentally triggering one of the heat seeking missiles on his bike and blowing up... eh, probably a cop car, in keeping with the fine traditions of the pines thus far.
of course since alex still doesn't remember his spy days, this is going to put him into a panic, and he's going to make the mistake of trying to use his inhaler to calm down his breathing which, obviously, isn't a normal inhaler either and will actually wind up knocking him out briefly instead so, uh. anyone who wants in on this hot mess is welcome, it's gonna be wild.

Her facade will slip a bit as the memory hits her while she's in her office in main street, so if anyone wants to hear her scream and knock things over, this is a good chance.
Sissel will have to listen in on someone else answering the call. And he will only get the memories without the sensation since his body is technically impenetrable. He'll be curious and will double his investigations around town by poking his ghost form in people's houses and businesses, and such.
Shiba is the happiest about this because he's a nut who's been waiting for the other shoe to drop. He'll be so intrigued and excited and will be open to discussing it with people. He won't be too bothered about being on an operating table so, yes, far too chipper.

ARISA: lydia martin, wanda maximoff, kate bishop
The cause of the scream is triggered by the memory overhaul, with Lydia getting a good dose of them. She's also had canon experiences in being hospitalized and experimented on so this is definitely going to have a traumatic effect on her.
Wanda will also be experiencing some memory triggers! She'll also be in the midst of getting some canon memories back as well which consists of being experimented on and being held in captivity.
So it's safe to say that Wanda will be especially angry, and with Wanda, her powers tend to be heavily connected to her emotions, releasing lots of energy when they're at their peak. So Wanda is open to having someone try to either get her to calm down or be involved in a possible accident consisting of some property damage or even minimal injury.
Kate will not be getting any memory triggers, at least not immediately. But she's available for anyone who needs to get some emotions out or needs a hand to hold for comfort!

She'll probably start getting really nosy after this. Any other spooks or detectives want to compare notes? Let's talk.

Perfect timing.
So he's probably be going to be very pointedly NOT TALKING about any memories he gets (which will be vague), while going around trying to figure out what's going on.

Rachel, Junyoung, Bruce
Bruce will be confused and immediately want to get to the bottom of it, more so when he realizes he's not the only person who had this vision/recall. Expect him to try to figure out how many people are affected and to try to figure out what was being done in these memories. Also: protective papa bear instincts, activate.
Rachel specializes in gathering information and trying to solve mysteries. She is gonna put her investigative reporter skills to good use poking around places: city hall, the hospital, coffee shops and restaurants. Mostly listening in for information, but some snooping will be had if anyone's down for joining her in that.
Junyoung is gonna be so mad, you guys. Being a doctor, he took an oath, you don't mess with people like this, etc etc. He is gonna want answers, now, and will do whatever he can to get information at the hospital or explain things or help figure things out. He can also examine any old injuries, things like that.

I don't know if there is anything in the hospital or if it counts as plot interaction but Clary would certainly try it.

BACKDATED TO MAY 16TH
Since Bucky is in jail, he won't be appearing in this film, so it's just Sam Wilson, Sharon Carter and Natasha Romanoff. Sam and Sharon are going to help Natasha sneak into the hospital underβ the guise of being staff, and the trio makes their way down to the area Bucky told Natasha the lab was in.

He'll then (carrying his tracker) head for Steve's place, ask him if they can talk about Caroline, and once they're safely closed off in Steve's room, inform him of everything BB-8's found, including the fact that the wall is seemingly patrolled by beings that BB-8 can't identify--neither human nor any other known species. Steve, at that point, will suggest that he and Poe have a "talk" with the sheriff. After having Natasha remove his tracker, Steve will make a post to the network that will... uh. Get the sheriff's attention double-quick.

Say...wherever the Mayor is? Will he be at Town Hall or will they have to go looking for him?
And if they have to go looking for him, how empty is the sheriff's station right now?
