Player plot: party of doom
Hello pinecones,
We're back! Sorry about cutting this short last time. There's an additional note from the mods in this post and there will be an additional thread for communicating with the mods. Without further ado:
Shiro here, player of Jiaying, bringing one optional player plot for you. Basically, Jiaying hates all humans and is growing increasingly annoyed by life here. She has with her a terrigen crystal that is capable of petrifying and killing all humans while transforming those with inhuman DNA into inhumans with powers. Here's a short video as reference. For regular humans, they get petrified and never recover, turning into dust upon contact.
On that note, as per MCU canon, inhumans is just a moniker for a specific group of humans who are descended from humans who's had their DNA modified by aliens.
What this means:
- you as a player can volunteer your character to attend a party Jiaying will be hosting sometime May 27th! (post likely to go up on the 26th for US timezones)
- In the midst of the party, Jiaying will be dropping the crystal and infecting everyone in the room with the mist
- Humans in the room will die. (there is the option for characters to be out of the room when it happens so they can walk back in on the scene of petrification for added drama)
- Non-humans may or may not be affected (I'm giving some wiggle room for this. Feel free to hit me up to discuss)
Addendum: As there's comics canon for this, mutants can have the option of getting sick and/or dying from the mist rather than petrifying, subject to IC consequences for the illness.
- Inhumans will gain their new powers. (power gain will be subject to IC consequences)
I'll be spending time from now till the actual date building up CR whether ICly or OOCly to accommodate as many people as I can (invitation by IC word of mouth is perfectly fine). The mods have cleared permission for a room full of people to be affected. (I'm hoping I won't have to RNG but we'll see)
As per the FAQ, characters who die from this will not have the death counted as a failed integration since it will be murder. It's recommended to discuss things with your character's close CR OOCly in case of fallout. Any and all IC consequences towards Jiaying is fine with me.
Additionally,
There will be 4 threads under this post: Thread #1 - questions for me, Thread #2 - volunteers, Thread #3 - discussion/individual plotting comments/hashing out details with each other. Thread #4 - a top level for participants to hash out IC consequences with the mods

Additionally,
The mods will have a top-level in the comments below for those who want to be involved in the plot, in order to discuss consequences. Please note that there will be IC consequences for any power acquisition for those who would be affected in this manner by the terrigen crystal, so this is a required step in participating in this plot. Additionally, the mods are offering to DM IC actions related to this in an OOC post that will go up concurrent with Jiaying's log.

I think there's easily room to go either way in that case. Since there's no canon basis so far (except with comics mutants) for the crystal's effect on other genetically different humans.

happy to handwave or start up cr between now + then, or to just have her rock up as a stranger! whatever works best for you c:

Discussion
plotting for pietro maximoff
Since Pietro has a real history (and future) of this kind of anti-human terrorism, I would really like to make him feel partially culpable in various ways. So if your character needs an invite and we have fake or real CR, pls feel free to hit me up!
He could also have helped with setup etc idk, he's a nice boy
sometimesand he likes Jiaying a lot ok.Mod Contact

Since time travel is pretty god-modey all around though, my preference would be to limit it to a one-time, accidental use triggered by the crystals. Maybe he could pop forward in time a day or two, just for long enough to learn some vaguely useful thing or other, and pop back. Or, as another option, he could pop forward a very short amount of time and return to the same time, essentially duplicating himself for a brief period. (In canon he just uses this to beat up Magneto from 3 sides, so like. I don't expect he'd do anything super awesome with it.) Anyway, there are a lot of options depending on what's kosher with you guys.

We're fine with you proceeding as outlined here, since we think you've covered all your bases finding a way to limit this newfound power. He would likely not be subject to the consequences other characters might face since it's not something that would necessarily be detected, but just let us know if you feel like you'd rather do something other than the two scenarios you presented here.

Unless there's canon basis stating otherwise, we're uncertain how Pepper would be able to only partially get her extremis abilities back. So whatever they were and whatever control Pepper had (or didn't have) over them before Tony got his hands on her would probably be the guideline to follow. This means she'll likely be apprehended by the police and taken to the hospital, while being assured they're helping her get it under control to make sure nobody gets hurt. If Pepper goes willingly, they will sedate her once they have her in the hospital, and when she wakes up she will find she's been unconscious for 1 - 3 weeks. Her powers will also be stabilized, but with side effects. How severe the side effects are will depend on how long she's out of commission: the longer she's gone, the fewer side effects, so this would be up to you as her player.
Let us know if this sounds like something you might like to proceed with, and we can go into more detail with you!

that's fine. i just thought i'd mention it since it's def. a thing that can happen to certain subjects. i don't think pep's prone to it tho, so at least there's that. her control over her abilities... leaves something to be desired. she knows how to use them to an extent, but is, by no means, a savant, so the moment she starts to glow is the moment she's going to freak out. she'll want tony, like, immediately, ...and be super skeptical about about their attempts to reassure her. she won't give in at first, but because she doesn't want to hurt anybody... she'll likely concede and let them take her in. as far as how long she's out, let's fall right in the middle and go with 2 weeks. but this sounds fine to me!

This lasts through the end of June.

There won't be any consequences for illness or death from our end if Rogue's powers are unaffected by the crystal. If she does die, the results will be the same as any in-game death that does not count as a failed integration, as described here.

Any guidance on consequences and how something like this would be dealt with is much appreciated! If one outcome is preferred over the other by the mod team, I'm totally cool with that. Thanks!

If you'd like Rogue's powers to be affected by the mist, you have a couple options. At first, she'll be taken into custody by the police much like Pepper to ensure that the powers aren't unstable or out of control. If they remain stable after being amplified by the crystal (as it seems you plan for them to be), Rogue will only be out of commission for a week, at which point she will wake up in the hospital and be sent on her way.
However! Any deaths that happen due to Rogue's powers, be it by accident or otherwise, will be treated as a murder by the police force of Wayward Pines, so please keep this in mind if you plan on putting that into play.
