I think Kaulder could use a best friend who seems around about his age and has a respectable position in town! I do like the idea of them growing up together - like the Good Guy Squad or something. Kaulder's canon loss of his wife and daughter are also there as Pines memories, so maybe Leo's the one who was there to get him through it?
