FALSE MEMORIES PLOTTING

Welcome to the Wayward Pines false memory plotting repository!

What's that, you ask? Well, it's essentially a dump for false memory plotting from this point forward - kind of like a CR meme for false memories, except this post will be pinned to the OOC comm, and will be linked in every OOC intro. There is no such thing as 'too late' to this meme!

How do false memories work in The Pines?

Strangely enough, as new characters begin to regain their memories, they also “regain” memories of life here in Wayward Pines. Maybe they rode their bike down this street as a kid. Maybe that park was where they had their first kiss. Almost unanimously pleasant, these memories are entirely at odds with everything your character knows (or thinks they know) about the life they led before Wayward Pines, but at the same time, these memories feel so real. Seeing the objects or people featured in the memories gives your character that same warm nostalgic feeling they’d feel if the events they’re remembering actually happened.

As new characters arrive, veteran characters can simply 'remember' false memories with those new characters, with the general IC feeling that they'd always been there but only now came to the surface.

For more info on the false memories mechanic, be sure to check out our FAQ!

How do I use this page?

It's simple: Create a top-level for each of your characters (or a collective top-level for all of them). Others reply to your top-level if they want to plot false memories with you. Alternatively, you reply to others' top-levels for the same reason! Think of it like a neverending CR meme specifically dedicated to cozy suburban memory-fuckery.

Things you might consider including, if they strike your fancy:
  • A blurb about your character's fake-life (as sparse or as detailed as you'd like).
  • A summary or list of the false-memory CR you've plotted out so far.
  • A false memories 'wish list'.
  • False memories preferences, if you have any. (For example: "Only looking for positive false-memory CR right now!")

We strongly recommend putting the info in a post on your character's journal and linking that post here rather than putting the info right in your top-level. That way you can edit and update that information as needed, as your top-level can't be edited once it's replied to!

It would! What do you have in mind?

The Andalite's false memory au now includes vague military service (the mental image!) so he may have come to town recently. He's also helping NPCs grow herbs and some tea ingredients so there might be a timing conflict but hey that's what vague fake aus are for!

well currently alex's history is that he lived with his uncle and housekeeper, then his uncle died and he lived with his housekeeper, than her visa expired and somehow nobody in town has any issue with this kid living in a big house completely alone now, but he seems to be managing just fine outside of the weird injuries he'll show up to school with.

well-meaning adult figures taking an interest in his safety and happiness will honestly be viewed initially with suspicion but are also sorely needed in his life.

Sounds good! He doesn't have much to do with the school and is kinda inclined to not be that meddly but humans have to go through a whole process to feed themselves, don't they? A young one on his own might not do all the steps properly. Maybe this is a casually-leave-stuff-at-the-door matter even before actually talking.

Alex is definitely inexperienced in the art of making healthy meals for himself, he had a housekeeper for that so the food would be greatly appreciated.

And that's enough of a start to prompt excellent cr down the line.

I mean I don't think Alloran can actually cook edible-grade food, so this is like... fruits and vegetables and random herbs... which is v popular with kids I'm sure.

hee.

Alex is a pretty health conscious kid so he'd actually appreciate the sentiment there. There's probably a bit of confused wariness at first tho like 'why is this even happening, what'

We could have a thread where he finally gets tired of being confused and just stakes out his own porch and confronts alloran on the next delivery and build the cr from there

maybe this squash is poisoned! Somehow.

Sounds good! Alloran will say there's too much at the center and he can't make good use of it, in that way where it's clear he's not even pretending that's a good excuse.
