The Sheriff looks at Nyx, long and hard. His jaw works a little, almost like he's chewing idly on the situation laid out before him.
Then, "This isn't the first disappearance like this. No trace of them, in their house or in your head." He pulls out a small notepad from inside his desk. "The best we can do is file a Missing Persons report and put a couple of officers on the case." And he's grabbed a pen, clicked it with his thumb, and started to scrawl out something on the notepad. "Now, I know that losing a loved one, well. It's hard. I can't imagine losing four. If you need somebody to talk to, the doc up at the hospital is top notch. He's helped me through a couple of crises of my own."
The sheet's torn off, folded neatly in half, and offered out to Nyx between two fingers. "Give him a call."
Should he open the note, however, he finds neither a name nor phone number.
It reads: Push this any further and I can't protect you.
