In their initial go of inspecting the animal and discovering it looks like it got hit hard by something and was possibly dragged or fell down (all without their making physical contact because no thanks) it's suggested by Damon that they move to climb further up the cliff side. Like, what's even up there?! Plus, they haven't seen any of this particular 'animal' wandering about so...it had to have come from...somewhere. Up they go!

Also - Is there any distinguishable scent of the creature? Different than any animal they've ever smelled, or akin to certain ones that are native to Earth?
