The sheriff... Dennis could never get a read on the sheriff. He doesn't much talk to people about it, but nobody he knows can remember a time when the sheriff woke up confused like they did. That's all he knows.

He doesn't know for sure what the screaming is, either. Just that he followed it once, and he found... y'know. The thing that he found. (He's pointedly not talking about the body any more, out of respect for Sarah's earlier squeamishness.)
