false memory plotting repository

Welcome to the Wayward Pines false memory plotting repository!
What's that, you ask? Well, it's essentially a dump for false memory plotting from this point forward - kind of like a CR meme for false memories, except this post will be pinned to the OOC comm, and will be linked in every OOC intro. There is no such thing as 'too late' to this meme!
How do false memories work in The Pines?
Strangely enough, as new characters begin to regain their memories, they also “regain” memories of life here in Wayward Pines. Maybe they rode their bike down this street as a kid. Maybe that park was where they had their first kiss. Almost unanimously pleasant, these memories are entirely at odds with everything your character knows (or thinks they know) about the life they led before Wayward Pines, but at the same time, these memories feel so real. Seeing the objects or people featured in the memories gives your character that same warm nostalgic feeling they’d feel if the events they’re remembering actually happened.
As new characters arrive, veteran characters can simply 'remember' false memories with those new characters, with the general IC feeling that they'd always been there but only now came to the surface.
For more info on the false memories mechanic, be sure to check out our FAQ!
How do I use this page?
It's simple: Create a top-level for each of your characters (or a collective top-level for all of them). Others reply to your top-level if they want to plot false memories with you. Alternatively, you reply to others' top-levels for the same reason! Think of it like a neverending CR meme specifically dedicated to cozy suburban memory-fuckery.
Things you might consider including, if they strike your fancy:
We strongly recommend putting the info in a post on your character's journal and linking that post here rather than putting the info right in your top-level. That way you can edit and update that information as needed, as your top-level can't be edited once it's replied to!

Things you might consider including, if they strike your fancy:
- A blurb about your character's fake-life (as sparse or as detailed as you'd like).
- A summary or list of the false-memory CR you've plotted out so far.
- A false memories 'wish list'.
- False memories preferences, if you have any. (For example: "Only looking for positive false-memory CR right now!")
We strongly recommend putting the info in a post on your character's journal and linking that post here rather than putting the info right in your top-level. That way you can edit and update that information as needed, as your top-level can't be edited once it's replied to!

(if you're unfamiliar with alex's canon, in the third book a guy planning to nuke half of russia decides to forcefully adopt alex and actually gets so upset when alex says he'd rather die than be his son that he kills himself in front of alex. also his godfather killed both his parents.)
which is to say that once he regains his memories, this relationship probably won't feel terribly new or surprising to alex at all.

No but this is good. Does Alex have guardians in Pines?
no subject
and no he doesn't, actually. i modeled his false history in pines pretty closely with the books themselves. basically he lived with his uncle and housekeeper. but then his uncle died and he was just living with his housekeeper. at some unidentified point said housekeeper's visa ran out and she had to move back home and alex has been living alone in his big old house for awhile now, apparently having slipped through the cracks.

Oh! Well, there's an extended relative in Pines if someone... official (??)... were to put it together now. :D But that one's also up to you.

especially since he has a habit of getting into trouble and getting himself hurt.
............. actually, just before the game initially closed alex wound up accidentally blowing up a cop car with a rocket launcher. he didn't get in trouble but did wind up going in to see the hospital therapist about the whole thing so that might have been enough to put him on the radar of someone where he's suddenly under enough scrutiny for someone to notice.

... I remember that. HI WAIT SHIT YEAH, I was here as someone else before lol my brain doesn't work very good. YEAH I REMEMBER THE COP CAR that might definitely do it!!

that's a lie, he's not fine, nothing's fine.so how did you want the dynamic to work before that deux ex machina happens? like how extended is this family. did they have dinners together every now and then or just sort of chat for five minutes if they crossed paths at the grocery store??

Does that sound about right/okay?

but no that's good! He'd pretty easily pick up the idea of being his tutor once they end up cohabiting, hahaha.
