I was hoping for a random disappearance. So people don't know where she is, plus the vampire thing makes it hard for her to have a severe injury unless we bend some rules? And then maybe she's hurt in the forest and isn't found for a week?

Maybe the creatures have something in their blood or salvia that works like vervain (which is her weakness/kryptonite).
